Bank of New Hampshire Installs Historic Style Chime Clock at Laconia Headquarters

Laconia, New Hampshire – January 28, 2025 – Bank of New Hampshire is proud to announce the installation of a custom, McClintock-style chime clock at its new Laconia headquarters on Pleasant Street, a fitting tribute to the Bank’s deep historic roots in the community.

The origins of the Bank date back to 1831, and it is believed that the original chime clock was installed at the 513 Main Street location around the year 1900. This original clock, built by the renowned O.B. McClintock Company of Minneapolis, became an iconic symbol of the Bank. While the original clock was tragically destroyed during the demolition of the Main Street building in 1969 under the Urban Renewal Program, its legacy continued throughout the years.

Last month, Bank of New Hampshire partnered with Electric Time Company, a respected clockmaker from Medfield, Massachusetts, to install a faithful reproduction of the McClintock chime clock. The new timepiece, affixed to the Pleasant Street side of its headquarters, features a logo panel, clock face and thermometer, all enhanced with modern technology, including GPS synchronization to ensure precision within 1 microsecond. This project, not only restored the tradition of a prominent timepiece in the heart of Laconia, but it also serves as a visual reminder of the Bank’s rich history and its lasting ties to the community it calls home.

“This clock is more than just a timekeeper—it is a piece of our past that connects our history with the present,” said Chris Logan, President and CEO for Bank of New Hampshire. “As we enter our 194th year, we are proud to honor the legacy of our original clock and ensure that it remains a central part of the Laconia landscape for generations to come.”
